Masters of Tertiary Education Management

The Institute’s new Master of Tertiary Education Management program has attracted keen interest from a diverse group of tertiary sector professionals for the 2009 and 2010 intakes.

The commencing cohort in 2009 includes participants from institutions in the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. All have strong support from their institutional management to participate in the MTEM program, and between them they manage various teaching, research, administrative and business development functions in higher education and VET.  This group will bring wide academic and administrative experience and many different perspectives to the program. Over the next two years they will have many opportunities to share and compare views while studying issues of policy, strategy, program delivery and management effectiveness with national and international experts in the field of tertiary education.

The 2009 program has commenced and we look forward to meeting the participants at the first residential school in Melbourne, in April.

For further information, email Dr Geoff Sharrock or phone 03 8344 0756.

Leading Learning for Institutional Change

The Martin Institute and the Australian Council for Educational Research are pleased to present the Leading Learning for Institutional Change symposium presented by Professor George D. Kuh, Indiana University, USA on 3 July at Graduate House, The University of Melbourne.

For senior leaders, the capacity to monitor and enhance learning is playing an increasingly vital role in shaping effective institutional change. This symposium develops practical strategies for leading evidence-based change. It explores ideas being led in the USA by the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA). It will focus on quality assurance agencies, policy makers, students and employers.
